Quick Guide: Texas Freshwater Permits

Navigating the licensing requirements is a simple but essential part of preparing for your time on the water with Wild One Adventures. In Texas, a valid fishing license is required for all anglers 17 years of age and older to fish in public waters, including Lake Ray Hubbard. Whether you are a local resident or visiting from out of state, having your documentation ready ensures a stress-free morning at the dock. This system directly supports the conservation efforts and habitat management that keep our Rowlett TX fishing trips productive and sustainable for generations to come.

Who Needs a License?

  • Adults (17-64): Required to have a valid license with a freshwater endorsement.
  • Seniors (65+): Texas residents aged 65 and older qualify for a discounted "Senior Freshwater Package."
  • Youth (Under 17): Both residents and non-residents under 17 are exempt and do not need a license.
  • Special Exemptions: Texas residents born before January 1, 1931, are exempt from license requirements. Additionally, licenses are not required when fishing from the bank within a Texas State Park (though this does not apply to our boat-based charters).

License Costs & Types (2026 Rates)

For our trips on Lake Ray Hubbard, you specifically need a Freshwater Endorsement. If you plan to fish the coast later, an "All-Water" package is your best value.
